About Me

Hi, my name is Melody, I’m a 24 year old London based fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger. I’m not afraid to be myself even if it means going against what other people think I should be or what I should do. I’ve been known to be both stubborn and contrary and willing to have an argument for a point of view I don’t even support purely to play devil’s advocate. I’m also not afraid to show my silliness or childishness and it’s not uncommon for me to play with my little cousin’s toys (they’re currently 6 and 8) more than they do.

I’m not really sure what else you want to know about me so I’ve answered a few questions from one of those ‘about me’ questionnaires that floats around the web. If there is anything else you would like to know just leave a message below and I’ll try to answer you as soon as possible.

Are you named after anyone?

I asked my mum once why she named me Melody when everyone around me had ‘normal’ names like my sister Amanda or my friends Sarah, Sara, Melanie, Annabel etc. Her answer was ‘I couldn’t find any other name I liked’. So the answer to this question is no I’m not directly named after anyone. However, my middle name, Ann, is after a great aunt on my Mum’s side.

When was the last time you cried?

It depends what type of crying you mean. To me there are two types of crying, the one you do when something real in your life has effected you, and the type you do when you’ve seen or read something that have triggered tears but is ultimately superficial.

The last time I cried superficially was this morning. I just re-watched the Doctor Who episode ‘The Girl in the Fireplace’ and it was so bitter sweet and sad, full of a life with huge potential that led to a devastating loss. I just couldn’t stop bawling!

The last time I cried genuinely was a few months ago, I was looking through some old pictures and there were lots of my Dad, he died in 2005 and I miss him a lot.

Do you have kids?

I don’t have any children yet but I’d really love some in the future. I do have a huge maternal streak though so I need to take it out on someone, so I treat my many little cousins as my niece and nephew substitutes. There are two that live closest to me so you’ll hear me talking about them a lot on here, Princess and Mr Tetchy.

If you were another person, would you be friends with yourself?

To be honest, I’m not sure. Although there are things about myself that I like and dislike I think one of my least favourite but most prominent traits is my social awkwardness. It takes me a long time to warm up and get used to a situation which can sometimes make making new friends difficult.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I’ve been told I use it too much.

Would you ever bungee-jump?

I’m not an adventure seeker or an extreme sports person so no.

What’s your favourite cereal?

I’m a big, big fan of cocoa pops for lunch.

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Their clothes. It sounds superficial on the surface but I’m not judging someone when I do it. What people choose to wear can tell you a lot about their personalities before they even open their mouths.

What is your eye colour?

My eyes are hazel, a brown/green mix.

Scary movie or happy endings?

Happy endings all the way!

Favourite scent?

I’m a big fan of a citrus hint. My favourite perfumes are light and airy with a hint of citrus to give it a kick.

Summer or winter?

I love the cold. I especially love the feeling of being in a really cold room and snuggling under a warm duvet.

Computer or television?

This is quite a tough one… I would have to say computer just because you can watch TV on the computer too.

What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?

I think it would be America, I went to a family reunion in Philadelphia a few years ago and travelled around afterwards ending up in Cape Cod.

Do you have any special talents?

My biggest ‘talent’ is that I’m able to wiggle my nose and flare my nostrils repeatedly. It’s an amazing skill I know.

Where were you born?

I was born and raised in London.

What are your hobbies?

I am an absolutely huge bookworm I would read all day and night if I could. I also love baking, nothing can relax me as much as even making an incredibly quick and easy mug cake. Obviously another one is fashion, I love how innovative designers can be, I love to keep track of trends and see who’s following them and I really love to see what people are wearing and how.

Do you have any pets?

Growing up I had three cats but after they died we never got new ones. Eventually I would love to get a kitten.

Do you have any siblings?

I have one sister Amanda, she is two years older than me.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

To be perfectly honest I don’t know, I don’t think I’ll ever properly know. After working in the Civil Service for thirty years my mum said she still didn’t know what she wanted to be, so I feel no pressure at all to find out.
